The app I use to find images for my blog, gave this statement when I searched on the keywords ‘pride sin’. Although pride has been known as one of the capital sins for centuries, nowadays it has a very different connotation. And not just that, in today’s western culture there is an emphasis on self esteem and self love. And not just that, in today’s western culture there is much emphasis on values like self esteem and self love. Not totally unjust, but I have the impression that we often take this too far. To look at ourselves and our environment in a balanced way, according to the bible, we need humility. Humility is totally different from self hatred. In today’s word study I discuss the opposite of humility: pride.
